Day 6 - Dog Hair Pizza

Today's food adventures got off to a late start. After going for a run and walking all three dogs it was 1:30 p.m. by the time I was ready to eat, so I had brunch. I guess that's what you call it when you have breakfast at 1:30 - there are elderly people in Florida eating dinner at that time for cripe's sake! I was too hungry to venture outside my comfort zone, so I settled for my usual hard-boiled egg and vanilla yogurt with blueberries.

There was also a glass of apple cider involved, but this website is refusing to accept my verticalized picture. I will say that I'm surprised how easy the shift from orange juice to cider has been. I've never been a huge cider fan, and can be a real crankster when I'm out of orange juice in the morning, but so far the cider's treating me just fine.

More household projects today, and having had breakfast at 1:30, lunch wasn't really necessary. I snacked on bread and butter and a glass of milk, but was too busy to take a picture.

Dinner for tonight - pizza! I started by making my own dough using my friend Striker's recipe; I had to call him twice for help. One thing he couldn't help me with was this:

Flour is a precious commodity in my life right now, and I am not ashamed to say I scooped it up and used it. Did I mention I have three dogs? I only skimmed off the top of the pile and was able to salvage 2 cups with surprisingly little dog hair. Less than a cup was thrown away.

Next I made my own sauce out of tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, apple wine, seasonings, and a little flour to thicken things up. I used Mountaineer cheese and achieved this finished product:

Oh, and the happiest part of my day: S-U-C-C-E-S-S that's the way we spell salad dressing! I mixed my fresh feta cheese from The Jones Family Farm with a little cider vinegar, put them in my mini-blender, and voila!

Salad and pizza, second only to salad, french fries, and beer. Mmmmm.
